  • We believe in promoting the organization of working women and men, either in the form of unions or community-based organizations.
  • We believe in bringing local activists together with activists nationally in order to help create a mass social movement for greater power and progressive change in society.
  • We believe direct mass action is the primary way to build working-class organization, develop grassroots leadership, instill confidence that fighting back can make a difference, and convince ourselves and others that our collective vision for a just society is not just a dream.
  • We believe working people cannot depend on employers to provide us with dignity, security, equality or a decent standard of living.
  • We believe working men and women need unions and their own community-based and social justice organizations.
  • We believe racial discrimination and sexual harassment violate our principles, undermine our solidarity and erode our strength. We will not only oppose racism, sexism and homophobia but will actively work to overcome them.
  • We believe unions not only raise the standard of living of all working people and bring a measure of justice and fairness to the workplace, but they also bring a greater level of democracy to society in general.
  • We believe the economic power of private corporations not only affects the workplace but also the laws, public policies and ideas of society.
  • We believe unions and worker-led, community-based organizations serve as counterweights to corporate power and offer an alternative to the corporate agenda.
  • We believe in challenging the economic and political status quo. We believe that the erosion of secure jobs, decline in living standards, cuts in wages and benefits, and deterioration of working people's rights is the direct result of the corporate agenda which puts profits before people.
  • We believe these social and economic problems are also political problems because too many politicians ignore the needs of working people in favor of the corporate agenda.
